There are many days when I look around at the church and wonder if any of us really believe what Jesus said when he spoke these words to the pharisees. They were struggling to understand what he was saying because it reflected a “way” they just couldn't grasp. I believe many believers still stand in these shoes today. We believe IN Jesus, but NOT in what He actually says.
I think He was pretty clear in His above statement and believe ANY thought/action that isn't captive to the “LOVE” of God, is The Thief. It is the opposite of LIGHT and God's LOVE and brings destruction in our minds, bodies and lives.
However, according to Jesus, there is a WAY that covers,protects and overshadows the darkness (the thief) and it is LOVE.
It's always been LOVE. Well, if you believe God, that is.
I do. I struggle with it because of all the asshat's in the world, but I do believe GOD desires we all live eternally and have rich and satisfying lives.
What hinders all of us from that today? I believe it's our THOUGHTS and OPINIONS of others that are not first taken captive to the LOVE of God. If you look upon another with any contempt or find NO love in you, THEREIN LIES THE WORLD'S GREATEST PROBLEM and there is but one solution if you believe Jesus.
IT'S LOVE and it's the kind of love that would die for another…even your enemy. We don't like these truths, do we? They don't sit well with most of us, but they are TRUTH.
God has had me talking about radical love for a long, long time and I had to go searching for it outside the Church walls to understand it. Many, many do these days. I'm not the only one making these claims. There's and army of us desperate for the rich and satisfying life that Jesus spoke of and you know what I think? We will never get there with hateful, cruel protest signs and certainly not with GUNS to our heads.
The WAY? Outstretched arms. Just like Jesus.
Go in LOVE. It is the WAY and the only arms you need are the ones reaching for your neighbor in love.
